Washington, D.C. — As of April 2025, homelessness in the United States has surged by 18.1%, reaching a record 771,480 individuals, according to the latest federal data. The nation now grapples with a shortfall of over 7.1 million affordable rental homes for extremely low-income households.
This housing crisis has left millions cost-burdened, with nearly half of all renters spending more than 30% of their income on housing.
The Foreclosure Focus, a national resource for homeowners and renters in distress, warns that systemic failures and underfunded housing programs are fueling displacement across urban and rural communities alike.
“The gap between housing costs and incomes continues to grow, and too many families are being pushed into foreclosure, eviction, or homelessness,” says the team at The Foreclosure Focus. “Our mission is to provide resources and recovery for those at risk.”
The Foreclosure Focus can help distressed homeowners and renters understand their rights, navigate local assistance programs, and identify opportunities to reclaim equity or surplus funds from foreclosure sales.
