Rural Florida Counties Experiencing Sharp Increase in Foreclosure Rates

While urban areas get most of the attention, rural Florida counties such as Columbia, Suwannee, and Hardee are seeing some of the highest percentage increases in foreclosure rates statewide.
“It’s hitting areas with low incomes and fewer protections the hardest,” said a regional housing advocate.
Advocates are calling for surplus fund education, mobile outreach clinics, and early intervention resources.
